Karen DeBeus

Karen was called to homeschool when her oldest child was about to enter kindergarten. She had no intention of homeschooling; after trying to run as far as she could from it, she obeyed the call and is now passionate about homeschooling. Karen is the author of Simply Homeschool, Called Home, and Real Homeschool. She speaks nationally at homeschool events, and truly believes her ministry is to encourage others on their journey. Karen is also the author of her blog Simply Living for Him, and she is the owner of Bible Based Homeschooling.

“He that has trained his children for heaven, rather than for earth- for God, rather than for man- he is the parent that will be wise.” -J.C. Ryle”
Karen DeBeus, Called Home: Finding Joy in Letting God Lead Your Homeschool

“The truth is we can never have enough earthly things to satisfy us because we are not made for this earth. The only true satisfaction comes from above. In a great paradox, the more we have, the less content we seem to be.”
Karen DeBeus, Simply Homeschool: Have Less Fluff and Bear More Fruit

“We need to know that none of us are equipped for this task. Not one. That is the beauty of God’s work. He calls us and then He equips us.  You don’t need to be organized, or a teacher, or perfect. No one is. He supplies exactly what we need to complete the tasks that we are given. If He called you to homeschool, He will equip you, but you must rely on Him and not on your own strength. Admit that you are not ultimately in charge.”
