Susan Fraiman is an American literary scholar and feminist critic whose work has significantly influenced the fields of feminist theory, queer theory, and cultural studies. A professor of English at the University of Virginia, she earned degrees from Princeton University and Columbia University. Fraiman is especially known for her studies of gender, sexuality, domesticity, and the English novel, with particular emphasis on Jane Austen. Her books include Unbecoming Women, Cool Men and the Second Sex, and Extreme Domesticity, which examine literature alongside contemporary culture.
