Frédéric Schiffter est un philosophe, écrivain et essayiste.

Il revient en France, après la mort de son père, alors qu'il est âgé de dix ans. Il a enseigné la philosophie dans plusieurs lycées du Pays basque dont au Lycée Cantau d'Anglet.

Il est auteur de nombreux essais, notamment Petite philosophie du surf (Milan, 2005), Le bluff éthique (Flammarion, 2008), Traité du cafard (Finitude, 2007) et Le philosophe sans qualités (Flammarion, 2006).

Philosophe et romancier, nourri par Montaigne, les moralistes, Schopenhauer ou encore Cioran, il développe un scepticisme alerte et raffiné, accordant une grande importance au style.
