Kay Matter, raised both in Zurich and Northern Italy, is the author of several plays and of the genre-bending literary non-fiction "Muskeln aus Plastik" (2024), the first book in the German-speaking world to deal with Long COVID Syndrome in a literary context–and a trans memoir. Kay Matter is a graduate of the playwriting program at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). His plays have won numerous awards and have been performed internationally. Most recently, he wrote a trilogy about transness and monstrosity for Schauspielhaus Zürich.
