Support written on a bathroom stall

There's a scene in my YA novel Spectacle when the protagonist–Emily–reads, and feels comforted by, scribblings on a bathroom stall. I like to think she would've written such a lovely reply:

Angie McCullagh is 78% done with The Calamity Club: I'm invested in these characters, but there's noooooo reason this book needs to be more than 600 pages.

The self loathing in this novel can be a bit much, but the writing is so sharp, the interiority so sparkling that I forgive it.

"WARNING: This is a “brain-on” review with (hidden) spoilers, as I am mentally unable to “turn my brain off” while reading anything.

Yesteryear has one of the most compelling premises I’ve come across: a wildly successful tradwife influencer is forced " Read more of this review »

“To be anorexic...she thought, amounted to wanting to shed yourself of some of the imperfect mosaic of pieces that made you who you were. She could understand that now for, maybe underneath that desquamated self you would locate a new version.”
Meg Wolitzer, The Ten-Year Nap

Meg Wolitzer
“No one had told her this would happen, that her girlishness would give way to the solid force of wifehood, motherhood. The choices available were all imperfect. If you chose to be with someone, you often wanted to be alone. If you chose to be alone, you often felt the unbearable need for another body - not necessarily for sex, but just to rub your foot, to sit across the table, to drop his things around the room in a way that was maddening but still served as a reminder that he was there.”
Meg Wolitzer, The Position

Meg Wolitzer
“You stayed around your children as long as you could, inhaling the ambient gold shavings of their childhood, and at the last minute you tried to see them off into life and hoped that the little piece of time you’d given them was enough to prevent them from one day feeling lonely and afraid and hopeless. You wouldn’t know the outcome for a long time.”
Meg Wolitzer, The Ten-Year Nap

“Yesterday's faults become today's lessons. Today's dreams become tomorrow's reality.”

Sylvia Plath
“I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.”
Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath
