RUBEN ALFREDO ANDERSEN LEITÃO nasceu em Lisboa, a 26 de Maio de 1920. Formou-se em Ciências Histórico-Filosóficas na Faculdade de Letras de Coimbra. Depois de ter ensinado em Lisboa e no Porto (1945-52), foi professor de Cultura Portuguesa na Universidade de Londres (1947-52). Em 1975 assumiu o cargo de Director-Geral dos Assuntos Culturais do Ministério da Educação e Cultura. Dedicou-se aos estudos históricos, tendo consagrado vários volumes a D. Pedro V e aos arquivos de Windsor.
Ficcionista, cultivou o conto, o romance, o teatro, a novela, o ensaio, o diário e a autobiografia. Alheio a modas e escolas literárias, pode detectar-se na sua obra um surrealismo pessoal, apoiado numa grande riqueza vocabular e na sugestão fónica da linguagem ( ...more
