With over twenty years' experience as a practising Pagan, since January 2012 I've been a full-time Priest and Chaplain. I work in the community on a consultancy basis to provide workshops, one-to-one teaching, multifaith talks at public and business institutions, and generally represent Paganism in the wider world.

I’ve been a regular speaker on BBC Radio Derby and Nottingham, and have appeared on BBC News, Radios 2 and 5 Live and in the national Press. My first book, 'A Druid's Tale', was published in June 2012, with the second, 'Facing the Darkness' in October 2013. I'm also contributing to a new anthology by Llewellyn Publishing later this year.

I've always been a voracious reader and love sharing books that I've enjoyed - hence taking up

'Vile Lady Villains', by Danai Christopoulou

You are Lady Macbeth.

You have plotted your king’s death and now you need to flee. You turn to the Three Witches for help, but their spell casts you out into a unrecognisable new realm.

You fall through a door only to stumble upon another woman’s blood-soaked triumph: you meet Klytemnestra as she stands over her husband’s corpse.

But as this Queen of Mycenae mistakes you for a spirit, she chas

I can honestly say that I've never read anything like this before. Lonely and remote while at the same time inspiring and passionate, we have a tale of a world held in a the grip of a dictatorial religion where our protagonists have to quietly rebel ...more

This was intense. I'm glad that I've never been in this exact situation, but the characters were certainly not unfamiliar to me as a former London office-worker! Satirical without becoming cringe or twee, this is a smart adventure with genuine stakes ...more

This was fun! A truly unique 'heroine' that I really enjoyed, demonic magic and a heated (sorry-not-sorry) mystery had me engaged from the start. The writing could be a little convoluted sometimes, but I liked the sense of 'fantasy noir', with action ...more

Quotes by Cat Treadwell  (?)

“The most problematic depression episodes plunge me into a feeling of disconnection. I am no longer a part of the world. All the colours, meaning and richness become hidden or lost to me. There is a numbing absence of feeling that strips away any inspiration and creativity. I become dead to myself, a husk, a shell. The fall into this state can be violently fast, although the triggers have all been external. Life does not treat many of us kindly. Most of the time, I draw inspiration from the world around me. That sense of connection to all other living and perhaps-not-living things nourishes and sustains me. Being pushed out of that sense of belonging is brutal. I have self-esteem issues and, subjected as I was to barrages of abuse, bitter criticism, invasive scrutiny and some terrifying processes in my life, I’ve been crushed, repeatedly. I’ve come to places where I’ve felt so awful that the only imaginable way out, I thought, was to die. I’m still alive because of the love and dedication of my husband. I hold the hope that I won’t have to crawl through hell again anytime soon, that I can build internal reserves strong enough to resist external pressures.”
Cat Treadwell, Facing the Darkness

“I'm not courting death; I've far too many books left to read.”
Alison Sinclair, Shadowborn

“Perfume was first created to mask the stench of foul and offensive odors...
Spices and bold flavorings were created to mask the taste of putrid and rotting meat...
What then was music created for?
Was it to drown out the voices of others, or the voices within ourselves?
I think I know.”
Emilie Autumn, The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls

“I am too intelligent, too demanding, and too resourceful for anyone to be able to take charge of me entirely. No one knows me or loves me completely. I have only myself”
Simone de Beauvoir

“He glanced up as I entered, and for a moment, looked almost surprised.
"Mr. Swift!"
"Ta-da!" I exclaimed weakly.
"You're still..."
"Still not dead. That's me. It's my big party trick, still not being dead, gets them every time.”
Kate Griffin, The Midnight Mayor

“Sometimes...you can cry until there's nothing wet in you. You can scream and curse to where your throat rebels and ruptures. You can pray, all you want, to whatever god you think will listen. And, still it makes no difference. It goes on, with no sign as to when it might release you. And you know that if it ever did relent...it would not be because it cared.”
Jhonen Vasquez, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac: Director's Cut
