Ru Marshall liked a quote
Refusing Heaven by Jack Gilbert
“We must risk delight. We can do without pleasure,
but not delight. Not enjoyment. We must have
the stubbornness to accept our gladness in the ruthless
furnace of this world. To make injustice the only
measure of our attention is to praise the Devil.”
Jack Gilbert
Ru Marshall and 2 other people liked Noreen's review of Memento Mori:
Memento Mori by Muriel Spark
"Adored this short novel, which is so witty, so well written and undoubtedly the funniest book I’ve read about aging and death. Now reading the Frances Wilson biography of Spark, Electric Spark."
