Kim Hupp was born in Denver, Colorado, but spent her childhood in Rumford, Rhode Island. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island and taught English as a Second Language at the American Language Institute in Lisbon, Portugal.

Kim battled Stage IV breast cancer for 12 years and weathered numerous personal crises, including the death of her sister Karen, who died of ovarian cancer in 2003. She was a member of the International Women's Writing Guild. This book, her first, gives practical advice and guidance on how to survive almost any crisis.
