While this book is helpful in developing emotional intelligence (something which I severely lack), there are some downsides.

I will start by saying I think this book is very good and should be read by anyone looking to increase his or her EQ.

This was an excellent book showing why scientific literacy is so important. The book is probably more relevant today than when it was written. It explains the usefulness of skepticism, as well as providing tools for the layman to detect hoaxes and sc ...more

WTF did I just read?? I thought this was going to be a book about the physics of explosions. It is NOT.

You know when you see a crazy person talking to himself or herself, and they repeat the same thing that makes sense to no one else but themselves?

3 and a half stars. The book is enjoyable overall. I like the writing style, and the story. It is, however, not as good as other works written at the time. And at some points, it becomes a bit ridiculous and not believable. But still a good read.

“If timing is everything, then I have nothing.”
Gary Patella, Diary of an Evil Genius

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”
Albert Einstein

“This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.”
William Shakespeare, Hamlet

“Time is the coin of your life. You spend it. Do not allow others to spend it for you.”
Carl Sandburg

“I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound or stab us. If the book we're reading doesn't wake us up with a blow to the head, what are we reading for? So that it will make us happy, as you write? Good Lord, we would be happy precisely if we had no books, and the kind of books that make us happy are the kind we could write ourselves if we had to. But we need books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us. That is my belief.”
Franz Kafka

“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”
Carl Sagan
