David Frederick Douglas is an independent Irish author, who now resides in Spain. His obsession with horror began at a young age when he first saw the movie Scream premiered TV. He remembers recording it on VHS and wearing the tape out rewatching that grisly opening scene with Drew Barrymore.

Drawing deeply from Irish history and folklore, David crafts stories he hopes are as unsettling as they are captivating.

For the Beast, He Awaits Me is his debut novella, and his next project is already underway and slated for release later in 2026.

" Oh my! So scary! NOT.

A bas-relief, weird events, dark cults, secret documents and obscure references, everything points to an ancient creature, dormant since eons ago, something immensely powerful, and beyond horrifying. The mythical Cthulhu.

This was shaping up to be a 5 star read for me, but as we approached the final showdown, it started to dawn on me that it wasn’t going to be as dark and twisted as I had originally thought (and hoped).

"Really enjoyed this. The world building is strong and the slow dread builds nicely right through. The characters feel real, and it’s got that uneasy, suspenseful edge where you keep reading to see what’s coming next."
