I've been bouncing between wanting to write cyberpunk science fiction and wanting to write high fantasy since I was in high school. I have series in both genres in the works, but I'm focusing on the Dark Mercury cyberpunk series for at least the next couple years. "Haven and Hope" is the first of a five book series, three-and-a-half of which are already written.

The Perils of Self Publishing

I wanted to explain the delay in Book 3's release, through the lens of being a self-published author.

1) Due to unrealistic expectations of sales and success (especially when contrasted against my introverted reluctance to do enough self-publicizing), my motivation waned.

2) Without the liability of deadlines, that waning motivation turned into lethargy.
