Tim Jacobson has been a U.S. Air Force Auxiliary (Civil Air Patrol) mission pilot, attorney, conservationist, writer, documentary filmmaker, dot-com executive, taxidermist, and a blacksmith for a living history museum.

He has traveled through parts of the Middle East and stared down the barrels of machine guns wielded by screaming soldiers while investigating firsthand some of the security and political issues embroiling the region. He is a student of Russian language and history. In the Air Force Auxiliary, Major Jacobson has flown Homeland Security training exercises in which armed F-16 fighter jets have intercepted the plane he is flying.
