Cherokee Stein Ross is the pen name of the author of Timeslider, and creator of the Timeslider Cat. An admitted history nerd as well as a writer, the author is currently at work on the second Timeslider Cat novel, The Cats of Istanbul. She divides her time between North Carolina, New York and Boston.

Short Story: “The Dream of Rain”

So here it is! I just posted a new short story, “The Dream of Rain”, on my website. No vampires or time-traveling cats this time — this one is straightforward fiction. (You can find it here, or under the Stories tab at cherokeesteinross.com.)

I wrote the story in a very specific narrative voice. Even though it’s short, if I got it right you should really feel like you know the character by the end.

Lewis Carroll
“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”
