Nazli Ghassemi was born in Iran and has traveled extensively in Europe, America, and the Middle East, living among people of many cultures and creeds. She wrote her first novel, Desert Mojito, while working and living in Dubai.

Desert Mojito is a humorous fiction based in the flamboyant desert city Dubai, where East and West collide at top speed. We cross cultural boundaries on a humorous journey with Maya Bibinaz Rostampisheh Williams and her odd circle of international friends as they stumble into social, sexual, and romantic challenges posed by religion, tradition, and politics in the modern Middle East.
