Tom Paver is from the English seaport of Liverpool, the fabric of which is woven through his novels. It's like Boston, shaped by its Irish community, and it gave the world The Beatles and the Titanic. Such creativity and tragedy encapsulate the city perfectly.

Tom has enjoyed an award-winning career in the media industries and divides his week between London and Liverpool. He's a half-decent fly fisherman, has trekked most of the way across the Spanish Pyrenees and is partial to a good Ribero del Duero.

Tom is a triplet, although the other two are at pains to point out that they do not earn a living from murder. You can find out more about him at tompaver.com

“There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat;
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.”
