Jonathan Reeder, born in upstate New York, studied music at Rice University and the Eastman School of Music. His musical wanderlust took him to Mexico, Spain, Hong Kong and the Netherlands, where he has lived since 1990. He has established himself as a freelance bassoonist and translator, and has been a Dutch citizen since 1996.

Presently he translates articles about music for cultural institutions such as De Nederlandse Opera, the Concertgebouw, Utrecht Early Music Festival and Holland Festival. Various orchestras and ensembles make use of his services as translator and editor.
