Cosmin Bumbuț a făcut 15 ani fotografii de modă și de publicitate, iar pictorialele lui au apărut în reviste precum Elle, Tabu și Esquire. În 2013 a publicat Bumbata, un album care arată viața de zi cu zi a deținuților din Penitenciarul Aiud; cartea a fost premiată la Concursul Naţional de Design și la Gala Bun de Tipar. Bumbuț a câștigat mai multe premii de fotografie, printre care Sony World Photography Awards în 2015 cu proiectul Camera intimă.

În 2008, Cosmin Bumbuț și Elena Stancu s-au întâlnit la revista Marie Claire și au lucrat împreună la mai multe reportaje sociale. În 2009, au făcut revista de fotografie Punctum, iar în 2012 au publicat Cuba continuă (Editura Art), povestea subiectivă a unui popor izolat şi suspendat în timp.
