Two Hundred Stories, Read Closely: Literary Echoes Is Here

Some books arrive quietly; this one has been more than a decade in the making, and I can still hardly believe it is finally in the world. Literary Echoes: Short Story Analyses is now published, and I would like to tell you a little about how it came to be.

It began in 2012, on my blog, insaneowl.com. I would read a short story, sit with it, and write down what I found — its craft, its context, the

Hi Shubham! :) :D

I will definitely do so by next month. I am right now drowning in many ARC book readings and reviews - so I am stocked for a while and I have a really tight working, ministry and teaching schedule - plus college/s schedule. But I am keen on fitting you into my schedule. I was already interested in 'Solitude' and TBRed it recently - so will definitely get to it and then share my honest opinion of the same with you on Amazon.in, Goodreads, Fable and StoryGraph. I am a very committed book reviewer nationally and internationally, so I’ll get the job done. Plus, reading and promoting indie-authors is my passion because I know how tough it is to get one’s book out there in the market ruled by the BIG PUBLISHERS WITH BIG BUDGETS ON BIG AUTHORS WITH ZERO TALENT BUT WITH BIG DEEP POCKETS LOL. You can count on an honest review from me ASAP. :) :D <3 God be with you! <3 :) :D

Shubham Jain Hi Fiza,

Congratulations on publishing 17 books. As a fellow author and inspiration, I would love for you to read and review my debut book Solitude. It is available for a free read on Kindle Unlimited. Looking forward to your response.

I think you did not read my earlier message - please do so and stop being insistent - I am doing my best - but Amazon.in is not posting it. I tried again yesterday, I am waiting to see whether they accept to make the review live. Have some consideration and some patience!

Chuck Locklear I’d love for you to post your review of A Storm Coming on Amazon.

Fiza Pathan Chuck wrote: "Could you post your review on Amazon?"

Will do so. Apologies for the delayed reply - I usually don't see this portion of my GR page. Feel free to DM me via email or WhatsApp me on my number given in my GR author bio. Then I am more accessible. :) :D I think I had posted the review on Amazon.in - but it seems to have not come. Will tweak the review a bit so that it meets Amazon.in protocols and will be up pronto.

Apologies again - I tend to have an extremely hectic work and ministry schedule. Plus I invented something recently in the month of March 2026 which now has me going everywhere giving demonstrations to everyone and anyone.

Also, I minister and counsel sexual abuse victims who are surviving abuses done to them by the Catholic Clergy and Religious. I see to their spiritual needs, justice, counselling and of course at times essential needs deined to them because they are sexual abuse victims by their own Catholic Community (!!!???) - also I do social work for the Dalit Bahunjan Community in Mumbai (lower castes of India) and see to their educational needs, conduct weekly reading sessions, literary get togethers and promotion of their or Dalit literature and see that they are directed to the right sources for their essential needs or daily needs. I've been doing the latter for 14 years and the former since I became a Benedictine Consecrated Virgin for Christ (lay-Catholic nun) in the year 2021.

So I tend to be very busy - do forgive me and have patience with me. Soli Deo Gloria. :) :D <3 :D :)

Hi James! Apologies but I just saw your message. Thank you for finding my book interesting & TBRing it. Would be honored if you would one day share your honest review of it on GR, I like improving on my craft & just getting better at what I do in the indie-publishing world. I love your book choices too & over the hectic weekend will be checking out some of your stuff. I am a Catholic Consecrated Virgin (Lay Catholic Nun to put it in crude terms) so I'm technically neither Miss or Mrs, I am Sister Fiza Pathan. But you can just call me Fiza, everyone always does! Happy Reading to you this awesome weekend! Love your rich & varied book choices - they intrigue me! Cheers to you with my coffee cup in hand! :D

Mr. James Good day, Mrs (Ms) Pathan,

Any author that wrote a collection of essays entitled: The Reclusive Writer & Reader of Bandra: Essays is immediately a friend of mine. Needless to say, this tile went on my "want to read" shelf. I'm honored by your friend request. The day has been long, so I'll come to your doorstep at a future date to look over the rest of your books, neatly organized, and placed gently upon, your Indian rosewood bookcase.

Sincerely,
Mr. James

Hi Mangalam sir! Actually my maternal aunt who I was a caregiver for passed away on November the 8th & now my maternal uncle is in the hospital in a critical condition, so I'm busy doing the hospital beat. But I'm still working, will get back to you soon - not to worry! Hope you are having an amazing Christmas - all my love to your family & the little ones! :)

Mangalam Shiva Hello Fiza, How are you? There has been no communication from you. It must be a quite busy schedule for you. Keep in touch.
Shivkumar.

SHIVKUMAR MANGALAM Ms. Fiza, I ordered your short story Until Death Do us Unite.
One more captivating short story by Ms. Fiza. The repulsive and cruel practice of Sati in the 18th and 19th centuries of India, is very well depicted by the author. The readers are carried to these earlier centuries when they read the story. The minute descriptions of the cremation of the dead Thakur, the willingness of the older wife to be burnt along with the deceased husband, the protests by the younger wife Bhurri, are excellent. The climax of the story is---White marrying Black---White marrying Burrie. The language used by the author is down to earth and simple.
But the reader can easily imagine the travails of Hindu widows in those era, whatever justification was given for burning the widows along with the deceased husbands. If one studies deeply about the conditions of widows in India in those distant years, we could understand the atrocities committed against the widows by the people in their families, by the invading kings and their soldiers, and members of the societies. This does not justify the self immolation or forceable burning of the widows along with their dead husbands in the same piers. It is good that the Britis and Indian Governments banned this evil paractice.
Hats of to Ms. Fiza for bringing out the cruelty of those dark periods very vividly. Shivkumar.
