Born where Ohio farm country meets the great lakes. Laura grew up on a small family farm, near Fremont Ohio. She graduated from Lakota High School then pursued a career in law enforcement. After recieving a degree in criminal justice she worked for Tiffin Police Department. In 2008 she left the Bryan Police Department to pursue her passion for writing.

Laura married Ben Walkup from rural Pioneer where they reside and raise their five children.
