Thomas Andrew Hitchen, better known as Tom, was born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire late in the summer of 1991. He was raised in the small village of Whiston, part of the nearby town of Rotherham. Throughout his school years he was reasonably intelligent but a frequent procrastinator. Grades that could have been impressive were instead merely reasonable.

Capitalizing on his life long love of writing stories and challenging his intellect, Tom took on a course of Creative Writing and Philosophy at the University of Hull. He has admitted many times that his main motivation for attending university was to achieve independence and have a lot of drunken, good times. I think I may be struggling a bit. I plan to sit in a quiet, phoneless room and do nothing but write this novel for the next two hours. Perhaps the odd bathroom break will be allowed.
