Michelle McLaughlin, also known as Michelle Speed, is the co-founder of The McLaughlin Group and the author and editor of the series Fairy Tales the World Over. In addition, she writes books about specific legends and themes in fairy tales, and edits anthologies of classic works, both fiction and non-fiction.

There are currently eight books in the Fairy Tales the World Over series: The Emerald Fairy Book, The Amethyst Fairy Book, The Diamond Fairy Book, The Ruby Fairy Book, The Topaz Fairy Book, The Pearl Fairy Book, The Moonstone Fairy Book, and The Sapphire Fairy Book.

Michelle lives in Denton, Texas with her three cats Neptune, Clementine, and Prunesquallor. She is a librarian at a junior college and enjoys cross-stitching.
