So Far, So Good ...

So far, "Dearly Departed" is going over well. Now, you have to keep in mind that the persons I've heard from consist of my twelve-year-old son, my fourteen-year-old daughter, my ageless husband, and my even more ageless mother. But I'm sure that their adoration of my little story can only be symptomatic of the onslaught of praise I'm going to get from other, non-related readers, right? Because it' Read more of this blog post »

“And of course,Addie."
What did he mean by that-"of course, Addie?" Did he mean "Of course you remember this airheaded chick who attacked the mayor with cardboard and had to be bailed out of jail?" That's not what really happened, but how was I supposed to know what he remembered of the incident?”
Tristi Pinkston, Turning Pages

“What?"
"Nothing." He laughed."You were really hungry."
"I don't need to defend my eating to anyone. And just so you know, when I'm done with this,I plan to eat three whole cookies."
"Whoa." He held up his hands."Now you're pulling out the big guns."
"I don't mess around.”
Tristi Pinkston, Turning Pages

“I know I don't.I just...I don't have the ability some people have of making friends.I think I'm being friendly, and it doesn't come across that way."
I snorted.It wasn't very lady-like.
"That's what you call friendly?"
"Yeah.I know-it needs work."
"It needs surgery.”

“There is something almost sacred about a great library because it represents the preservation of the wisdom, the learning, and the pondering of men and women of all the ages, accumulated under one roof.”
Gordon B. Hinckley, Standing for Something: Ten Neglected Virtues That Will Heal Our Hearts and Homes

“It is possible to be honest every day. It is possible to live so that others can trust us-can trust our words, our motives, and our actions. Our examples are vital to those who sit at our feet as well as those who watch from a distance. Our own constant self-improvement will become as a polar star to those within our individual spheres of influence. They will remember longer what they saw in us than what they heard from us. Our attitude, our point of view, can make a tremendous difference.”
Gordon B. Hinckley, Standing for Something: Ten Neglected Virtues That Will Heal Our Hearts and Homes

“There is something wonderful about a book. We can pick it up. We can heft it. We can read it. We can set it down. We can think of what we have read. It does something for us. We can share great minds, great actions, and great undertakings in the pages of a book.”
Gordon B. Hinckley, Standing for Something: Ten Neglected Virtues That Will Heal Our Hearts and Homes

Stephanie Fowers Holy Hannah, yeah, you read a lot! I'll be checking out your site for sure :)

Lacresha Tristi,

I love your writing. I plan to purchase all of your titles. I love historical fiction, but not many can do it as well as you. Love to you and God bless you.

Tristi I lose track of who I'm friends with . . . and I'd sure rather be friends with you twice than not at all! :)

Liz Hi, Tristi,
Thanks for inviting me to be your friend! For some reason, I thought I already was--in the goodread sense. I like your choice of books--especially the seventh one. I remember seeing the movie Mrs. Mike when I was a young girl--probably early 50's. Maybe I'll look for the book.
