Maxwell James Bennett is an aspiring writer and graduate of Northern Arizona University, where he studied Politics, Philosophy, & Law and Italian. Originally from Hancock, Michigan, he now lives in Arizona, bringing a Great Lakes perspective to the Southwest.

His writing journey began with poetry and personal reflection, leading to the publication of Until Love Tells Me So, a collection centered on love, heartbreak, and growth. With From the Porch, Bennett expands his focus beyond the personal and into imagined lives, perspectives, and philosophical questions.

Rather than placing himself at the center of the narrative, he steps back, allowing characters, settings, and ideas to take shape on their own terms. His work reflects an evolving inter ...more

For someone curious in the West, there is nothing more disappointing than grappling with a text from outside the Western tradition, recognizing its philosophical richness, and still finding no meaning in it.

There should be a warning attached to Dostoevsky books that that states something along the lines of "if you read this, x y or z emotions will forever stick with you" and months later that does still seem to be the case. This book is broken up into t ...more
