Begoña Ibarrola nació en Bilbao en 1954, aunque reside en Madrid desde hace muchos años. Licenciada en Psicología por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid en 1977, ejerció como terapeuta infantil durante quince años y su trabajo ha estado siempre vinculado al mundo de las emociones. Hasta 1996 trabajó con niños y adolescentes con retraso mental y problemas de conducta en diversos centros de la Comunidad de Madrid. En aquel tiempo empezó a escribir cuentos con los que lograba captar la atención de pequeños y jóvenes, y se dedica desde entonces a la escritura, a la investigación y a la docencia.
