Part of the post-war 'baby-boomer' generation I spent my first ten years in Carlisle before moving to Gloucester. Frequent family moves resulted in an interesting but disjointed education. I qualified as a local government administrator and personnel practitioner before taking an Open University Degree.

I began writing during a career break in the 1980s, initially concentrating on articles and short stories. In the late '90s I was asked to write a series of advice and guidance books for job-seekers. Several editions later I wanted a change of direction and began exploring the possibility of writing a full-length novel.
