K.M. Topping fell in love with novels involving time travel at the age of nine, when she first read Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time and T.H. White's The Once and Future King. Eight years later, the author discovered the exciting sport of lacrosse, when she witnessed her first game as a freshman at University of Virginia.
