I grew up in the city of Leicester, known for its hosiery industry, Tigers Rugby Football Club and, more recently, the discovery of Richard III under a car park!

I studied Theology at Cambridge and went on to teach English as a Foreign Language in Madrid, Spain.

On my return to England I settled in the old market town of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. It is a town once famous for its wells - visited by Queen Henrietta Maria, the wife of King Charles I, who came to take the waters in the hope of conceiving an heir to the throne. By the time she returned 9 years later, she had 4 children!
