Terry McKnight is a retired law enforcement officer, multi-industry professional, and true-crime researcher. His deep personal connection to Texas law enforcement began at age 17, when a breaking news broadcast erroneously reported that his father, a Dallas County Deputy, had been killed in the infamous 1971 ambush known as the Trinity River Massacre. Though his father survived, the event sparked a lifelong dedication to documenting the case.

McKnight went on to serve for thirteen years as a police officer with the Dallas Police Department. Following his law enforcement career, he successfully transitioned into automotive repair business ownership and later computer network administration.
