Isabel Henderson is one of the leading authorities on the Picts and their culture. Her The Picts quickly became one of the essential introductions to the subject. Her many studies of Pictish art - most notably the splendid St. Andrews Sarcophagus and the massive base of the Hilton of Cadboll cross-slab - have transformed understanding of early Medieval artistic contacts.
