Frederick Hockley was a Freemason and a member of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA). His library—over 1,000 volumes of which were sold off after his death—and his transcriptions of esoteric books greatly contributed to the development of the occult revival of the late nineteenth century.
