Thomas Leduc lives in Sudbury with his wife and two kids. He is the descendant of four generations of miners, and has worked at Wajax, an industrial supply company, for twenty-two years.
Tom’s been writing poetry and short stories for several years. He was Poet Laureate of the City of Greater Sudbury for a two-year term, 2014-16. As Laureate, he put poetry on city busses, ran a Young Writers’ Guild, and wrote poetry for the city and multiple events. Including the CBC’s Up North program and city council.
Tom is a regular participant in the Sudbury public library’s Open Mic night. His involvement in the community also entails working with Wordstock, Northern Lights Festival Boreal, and Reading Town. In 2012, He won the Vale Living with Lakes Centre competition with his poem “Northern Lake”. It was subsequently published in the "Our Lakes Shall Set Us Free” anthology, and a framed copy of My Northern Lake hangs above the Margaret Atwood fireplace in the Living with Lakes Centre in Sudbury.
Tom’s poetry has been selected for publication in Issues 3 and 5 of Laurentian University’s Literary Journal, Sulphur. In 2015 he received an honorable mention in Open Quarterly Magazine’s 11th annual Brain Storm Poetry Contest for his poem “Rian King.” Also in 2015 his work was published in the spring edition of Sudbury Living Magazine and Talent North Magazine. He currently has poetry on display at the Sudbury Airport, Health Sciences North palliative care unit, and Lake Laurentian Conservation Area.
Tom’s short story, “Yin and Yang” was published in Commuter Lit Selections Vol. 2 print anthology, “Arrivals and Departures.” and his short story “Grass Roots” was published in Latitude 46 “Along The 46th”. His short story “The Swamp Healer” was published in Creepy Capreol Jr. along with a selection of Zombie Nursery Rhymes.
Tom’s short story “The Dog Party” was published in the Sudbury Writers’ Guilds Anthology “Sudbury Ink” along with two poems “Slagflower” and “Dead Fish.” His story “Home” and his poem “Rail Town” hangs in The Northern Ontario Railroad Museum as part of their Canada 150 exhibit and the Capreol Centennial.
In 2017 his poem “Paper Dolls” was accepted for publication in an anthology of poems published by Michigan State University Press on social justice.
Recently Tom Wrote an article for Write magazine summer 2018 issue on his initiative to put poetry on Sudbury hiking trails.

Tom has done numerous interviews with CBC, Northern Life, and the Sudbury Star.
His first book of poetry titled “Slagflowers” will be coming out in the spring of 2019, published by Latitude 46.
