I'm the author of Short Leash: A Memoir of Dog Walking and Deliverance, named a Groundbreaking Memoir by Independent Publisher. It's about many of the things that important to me - dogs, nature, spirituality and the courage it takes to reclaim a broken life.
One of the joys of being a writer is connecting with others in a profound way. It's been gratifying to hear from many people who have been touched by my story. I also teach memoir and nonfiction writing and am constantly amazed at the stories my students bring to the page. Yes, I’m passionate about memoir and good writing. Jalal ad-Din Muhammad ar-Rumi
“This being human is a guest house. Every morning is a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor...Welcome and entertain them all. Treat each guest honorably. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.”
Mawlana Jalal-al-Din Rumi

Ingmar Bergman
“Film as dream, film as music. No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls.”
Ingmar Bergman

Joseph Chilton Pearce
“To live a creative life we must first lose the fear of being wrong.”
Joseph Chilton Pearce
