JS Bateman is originally from Seattle, Washington. A graduate of the University of Washington, he served 32 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Colonel in 2010. His military experience was mostly in law enforcement and antiterrorism, including three stints as Chief of Police. He holds a BA and MS in Criminal Justice, and an MA in History. Since his retirement from the military, he has worked as a public historian, and, most recently, as a gentleman farmer/novelist. He lives in Hyde Park, Utah with his wife of 30 years, Marcie, and an assortment of critters too embarrassing to list here. "On the Death Beat" is his debut novel. ...more
