The author presents some good historical detail. But unfortunately, he fills in what he doesn’t know with insufferable self-righteous supposition and political correctness. He is particularly remiss in not having read Time on the Cross, given his sub ...more

Eleanore of Avignon by Elizabeth DeLozier
"63% through on Libby and giving up

Once again, someone's publisher was like "you need to squeeze in these topics into your book to check every box." I am not sure how you do that with a story based in the 1300s but - check - every social issue covered" Read more of this review »

Eleanore of Avignon by Elizabeth DeLozier
"This book was not it for me, and I have to say I am highly suspicious of the 5-star reviews from people who, coincidentally, received ARCs. The sentences themselves are mostly well-written and the premise is semi-interesting and that’s the whole of a" Read more of this review »

Hour of the Witch by Chris Bohjalian
"Hour of the Witch is a historical fiction novel sit in Bostin in the 1600's. Mary Deerfield is a 24-year old woman married to Thomas Deerfield. Thomas is not an ideal husband - he is a drunk and a wife beater. Mary decides that she is going to pursue" Read more of this review »

The premise of the book is pretty silly. But the author has little interest in historical truth or context.

His main objective seems to be following the fashion to dump all over Thomas Jefferson. He puts so many lies in the book about Jefferson, one
