In a scientific career spanning more than 20 years and with over 20 peer-reviewed papers published in the fields of immunology and oncology plus numerous presentations at major scientific congresses, it was almost inevitable that my debut novel, Weary Heart, would delve into the enigmatic world of academic science. Throw in a little adventure (I’ve traveled to more than 60 countries, many of which do not appear in your typical tourist brochure – think Sudan, Ethiopia, Mongolia, Mauritania, and Colombia to name but a few) and a dash of family turmoil and it’s no surprise that Weary Heart is an emotional roller-coaster of a journey.
