Fr. Adrien Candiard, O.P., is a Dominican friar of the Province of France, currently based at the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (IDEO) in Cairo. He holds a Ph.D. in Religious History and Anthropology from the École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris, with a dissertation focused on Ibn Taymiyya. His academic research concentrates on classical Islamic theology (kalām), with particular attention to the Hanbali tradition and its legacy. He is the author of several scholarly articles and books, and he regularly lectures on topics at the intersection of Christian and Muslim thought. In addition to his academic work, he is also known for his writings on spirituality and his public engagement in interreligious dialogue.
