Mariana den Hollander Miranda was born in San José, Costa Rica, and as she calls herself, she is a hybrid between her homeland and the Netherlands. She studied Fine Arts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and since childhood, she has lived in different countries around the world. For four years, she dedicated to giving workshops in Costa Rica, Mexico, Spain and the Netherlands to learn how to do "The Work" of Byron Katie: group workshops where people worked on their different issues and sought to understand them through this questioning technique. She was also on the staff of multiple Byron Katie Nine Day Schools. She currently resides in Belgium, where dedicates to body diversity and anti-fatphobia act

As well as raising awareness about bariatric surgery. She also focuses on textile art & design and she recently started a Bachelor's degree in Textile Art at the Anderlecht Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels.

The Heaviest Weight is her first book, originally published in Barcelona in 2007 with Aurea Editores. In November of 2020, it was published in English for the first time.

The Heaviest Surgery is her second book, published in April 2021. This book was born unexpectedly after realizing that there is a normalized silence about the long-term side effects of bariatric surgeries and a myriad of bariatric patients around the world who are not getting answers about their health.

Mariana is currently writing the continuation of The Heaviest Weight in a new book that will be published in 2021 and that intends to tell how by publishing the first book in its third edition in 2020, she realized the existence of a whole movement of body liberation & Health at Every Size® completely unknown to her; and how the community of her Instagram accounts (@marianadenhollander_libros and @marianadenhollander_books) revolutionized her life and her emotional processes.

Mariana den Hollander Miranda nació en San José, Costa Rica, y como ella misma se denomina, es un híbrido entre su tierra natal y los Países Bajos. Estudió Artes Plásticas en la Academia Real de Bellas Artes de La Haya y desde su infancia ha vivido en diferentes países del mundo. Por cuatro años se dedicó a dar talleres en Costa rica, México, España y los Países Bajos para aprender a hacer "The Work" de Byron Katie: talleres grupales donde las personas trabajaban sus diferentes problemas y buscaban entenderlos a través de esta técnica de cuestionamiento. También fue parte del staff de múltiples escuelas de Byron Katie. Actualmente reside en Bélgica, donde se dedica al activismo de diversidad corporal y anti-gordofobia. Así como a la concientización sobre la cirugía bariátrica. También se dedica al arte y el diseño textil. Recientemente comenzó un bachillerato en Arte Textil en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Anderlecht, en Bruselas.

"El peso que más pesa" es su primer libro, originalmente publicado en Barcelona en el 2007 con Aurea Editores. En el 2020 lanzó su tercera edición en Amazon, y fue publicado por primera vez en inglés en noviembre del 2020 (The Heaviest Weight).

La cirugía que más pesa es su segundo libro, publicado en abril del 2021. Este libro nació inesperadamente al constatar que existe un silencio normalizado acerca de las secuelas a largo plazo de las cirugías bariátricas y de los muchos pacientes bariátricos alrededor del mundo que no están recibiendo respuestas sobre su salud.
