Thirty years in Child Protection is long enough. And so I gave up my job, sold my car, let my house, abandoned my (adult) children and went round the world.

I came back with more stories than people to listen to them, and so wrote Over the Hill and Far Away.

Then I packed my rucksack again, and headed for Nepal, followed by a trip to Laos - and of course I wrote about those journeys too (Hidden Tiger Raging Mountain, and Bombs and Butterflies)

Now - well, the nights are drawing in, and I have itchy feet ...
