“Promatrala je Lima Tatea kako raste. Gledala je kako u svoju sobu dovodi ljubavnice i gledala ga je kada je popušio prvu cigaretu. On je bio s njom kada je otpila prvi gutljaj vina i držao ju je za ruku kada je radila prvu tetovažu. Bio joj je rame za plakanje i društvo kada bi ju Nick odlučio zatvoriti samu. Kasnije je postao njezin prvi poljubac i prva osoba koja ju je vidjela potpuno golu; dušu i tijelo. Bio joj je prijatelj, pa ljubavnik, pa neprijatelj. Sada je bio po malo od svega troje.”
