A gifted poet and translator in his own right, Omar Pound was the son of the artist Dorothy Shakespear, married at one time to Ezra Pound. By the time Pound had taken up with his lifelong love, violinist Olga Rudge, Shakespear had fled to Italy and given birth to her son, who bore Ezra Pound's name, whether he was in fact Pound's biological son.

Omar Pound was a poet, scholar, translator from the Arabic and Persian, and retired teacher of English at Princeton University. In addition to his several volumes of poetry and translations, he edited three volumes of his father's letters. He lived with his wife Elizabeth in Princeton, New Jersey, and died there after a long illness, survived by his daughters Katharine and Oriana, and grandsons Ben a ...more
