Barbara Shoff still loves writing, saving money and solving mysteries.

Genealogy, a favorite hobby for years (her novel A Community of Butterflies: Chrysalis contains many of her family surnames) still has a sequel in the works, and she confesses, "It still isn't quite right. It may never be, but I will return to it soon."

She decided to take a break and focus on her new found passion, blending DNA and genealogy. "I pounded my head against the wall for several years trying to get my head around DNA. Then I read Jim Bartlett's blog Segment-ology and it started to come together."

She began writing her blog, The Blundering DNA Genealogist. "I tell people about the tools I use and how I use them."

If You Watch These Films You Can Change the World (At Least You'll Want To)

I’m a writer. Not the best, not the worst. I always wanted to have the influence of a Thomas Paine, a Harriet Beecher Stowe, or maybe a George Orwell or an Ayn Rand.
