Lleva años viviendo en Colombia. No es biólogo, ni ornitólogo, estudió bellas artes. Ha recorrido todo el país avistando la mayor cantidad de aves posibles. Entre los lugares que visitó, se destaca Minca, un paraíso para observadores de aves en la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, en el cual vivió un buen tiempo. Esta segunda edición de «Field Guide to the Birds of Colombia», es la versión actualizada y más completa de las aves colombianas hasta la fecha.
