Multimedia artist Anne Makela is a Quaker peace minister who lives in Michigan with her husband William. When her children were young, Anne and her family practiced and preserved living arts, sustainable skills and holistic farming for over 25 years at Quaker Farm.

Throughout those years, Anne wrote numerous articles for homesteading, livestock, country living, home schooling, mothering, childbirth magazines and more. She also lectured, and taught classes and workshops on a variety of subjects relating to homesteading, the natural family, holistic dog care, midwifery and spirituality. She wrote the first book about making soap with milk which was published in 1997.
