Sunita Torres (King'z Jewel) was born in Southern Jersey in 1980. She grew up mostly in church, beginning her passion for singing and writing at an early age.

By age eleven, she was singing solos at church, soprano in the gospel choir, and writing short stories and poems. From there, she moved on to singing at various events as well as developing a secular rap persona and delving into spoken word.

All that changed as life progressed and she became more involved in the temptations the world had to offer. Soon, her life would resemble a train wreck, but praise be to God that in 2001 she rededicated her life to Christ, turning over her singing, rapping, and writing skills to His will.
