John H.D. Lucy is originally from the Boston area; graduated from St. Michael's College summa cum laude and received a Masters of Theological Studies from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

Lucy is generally a mysterious and mysteriously good-looking fellow who has knelt next to a wild baboon, been chased by a hungry hyena (or coyote, depending on who's telling the story) on his bicycle, and climbed Mt. Washington in his dreams. All true stories.

Usually, I don't like fiction that clearly focuses on moral meaning. I desire and look for moral meaning, for sure, but fiction should first and foremost be good fiction. Basically from page one you know The Alchemist is trying to tell you something. ...more

I am disappointed that this book has sold as many copies as it has. I don't know why. The buildup is far too long. The same thing happens over and over and over and over again for at least three times longer than necessary. You could skip at least ha ...more

Love this. A little too much romantic mush and neat endings for me, but the set up is fantastic. Here's a near-thriller mystery with some hints at surreality and magical realism that should keep most readers fully engaged. Who is good? Who does what? ...more

I first read Don Quixote shortly after college and was pleasantly surprised at how funny it is. I didn't know that writers 500 years ago were allowed humor. Yet there it is, from the start. Unfortunately, I was so pleasantly surprised by the humor in ...more
