James "Jim" Shaffer would have liked to write for the movies, but the closest he came to that dream was running projectors in a Berkeley, CA cinema. So after that bubble burst, and digging the hell out of Paul Schrader stories, in 2015 he turned to writing crime fiction. His first stories appeared in online crime mag Close to the Bone who also published his novella, Back to the World.
Since, he's had stories published online in Punk Noir Magazine, Retreats From Oblivion, and The Gutter's Flash Fiction Offensive, where he also currently serves as one of the fiction editors.
