I was born and grew up in the South West region of Queensland, Australia. I have spent most of my life living in a small rural town and love the lifestyle that it brings. My writing is often inspired by the rugged and spectacular Australian landscapes as well as my love for adventure and fantasy novels.

I am an English teacher and I love my job. My hope is that every day I inspire my students to love the written word.

I have had two short stories published as part of the Stringybark Awards. The Shadow Miner is my first attempt at a novel.

Review - Run by Becky Johnson

Picture 'Run' by Becky Johnson is a pleasant, quick read. The prologue was short and hooked me in quickly. With a clever segue way to the past, Johnson introduces us to the narrator Charlotte Marshall.

Dyslexic author and pet owner, Charlotte is researching her next novel when she becomes obsessed with investigating the murder of a series of teenage girls. After going to the FBI with what she has found, Read more of this blog post »

“It is like the man who closes his eyes to the sun and then finds himself walking over the edge of a cliff. If the man is too foolish to use the gift of light given to him, how can the sun be blamed for his death?”
Katie Beitz, The Shadow Miner

“I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.”
Sarah Williams

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

“I do know that for the sympathy of one living being, I would make peace with all. I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other.”
Mary Shelley, Frankenstein

“I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the fallen angel...”
