Richard Fliegel grew up in the Bronx, in Soundview, Pelham Parkway, Allerton Avenue and Bronx Park East. He went to Bronx Science, and when he didn't he went to the Botanical Gardens. At Buffalo he studied poetry with Robert Creeley and soap opera with Leslie Fiedler. He moved to Bank Street, West 75th, Washington Heights, and woke up one morning in Santa Monica -- when he flew back to read his play, The Judgment of Shika Levi, at the 92nd Street Y. He earned his Ph.D. with W. Ross Winterowd at USC, wrote a bit for TV, and set some books back in the Bronx. 7. Be consistent. Or don’t.
