Born in southern Ontario. As a child spent five years in Zambia, Kenya and Ireland (my father worked in these countries as a medical doctor), before returning to Canada at the age of 16. Graduated with a degree in geology from Queen's University. Wrote a few poems. Lived in Yellowknife, NWT for a time, where I worked in a gold mine. Switched to mineral exploration, first in northern Canada, then internationally. Based myself in Arkhangelsk, Russia for nearly a decade - and while there became acquainted with Stepan Pisakhov's Senya Malina stories. After this was in Lviv, Ukraine for five years, where I taught English to IT professionals.
